What is YShout?

YShout is a lightweight yet full-featured package that allows you to easily add an interactive shoutbox to your website. A shoutbox is a great tool to communicate with your visitors, and YShout allows you to chat with them in real-time.

Why YShout?

» Easy to install. The installation process is a simple and painless procedure—just upload the files, include the Javascripts, and add an empty div. YShout does the rest of the work for you.

» Easy to use with Drupal. A plugin by MN Apps has been developed that makes it quick and easy to integrate YShout within a Drupal installation.

» Customizable. Fully styleable via CSS, you can tailor YShout's appearance to fit your website perfectly. It also comes with a control panel, so you can customize many aspects of the functionality.

» Standards Compliant. YShout is the perfect complement to your standards-valid website. It outputs proper XHTML styled by completely customizeable (and almost equally valid) CSS. YShout is also non-intrusive, so you can stop worrying about ruining your perfect markup. Just toss in an empty div and you're done!

» AJAX-Powered. Yes, it's a buzzword—but for good reason! With AJAX, YShout eliminates the need to refresh in order to keep up with new messages, and does tons of other nifty things without reloading the page.

What's new?

» Kickass Admin CP. YShout 5 features a completely rebuilt control panel. It contains some new preferences, as well as a lot of returning favorites. More importantly, it provides for an all-around better user experience — you can easily access all of its functionality without leaving the page you're on: it is fully AJAX-powered, just like YShout itself.

» Full-featured History Viewer. While YShout 4 had a history viewer, it was lacking in a few important respects. People requested an awesome history viewer, and YShout 5 delivers. The revamped history viewer contains all of the requested features, and more!

» Be pleasantly surprised. There are innumerable miscellaneous improvements in YShout 5, all coming together to achieve a very stylish and polished user experience. Hi! My name is Yuri Vishnevsky and I created YShout quite a long time ago. I was sixteen.

I actually started developing YShout on a whim — I was working on a small Photoshop tutorial website, and thought it would be nice if people could chat about the tutorials. After a cursory search turned up no satisfactory results, I decided to give it a shot myself. And thus YShout was born. I never did finish the tutorial site.
